Sorry for disappearing for 2 months (more or less), but my classes have been burdening me with piles of work and life has taken up the rest of my time. Anyways, last week I went to go see Hot Chip, for the third time, at Webster Hall and they totally rocked my socks. Webster Hall’s sound system was unleashing some of the fattest bass I’ve ever encountered; at times sending huge waves through the floor, making it feel as if I were on a trampoline. Hot Chip’s new material was more than refreshing… It was FUCKING LIFE CHANGING…haha

While the the US struggles to find clear and undeniable evidence of high level Iranian aid to Iraqi Shiites, halfway across the world a battle over love, Hallmark cards and roses has set off In the last two decades many people in India have begun celebrating one of the most commercial holidays of the year (ha! which one isn’t?): Valentine’s Day. However, this new ‘tradition’ has sparked quite the controversy among Hindu purists. Many Right-Wing (extremist) organizations are trying to put a stop to what they call the “Westernization of Indian Culture” and “Corruption of the Indian Youth” (even though many believe India has already been molested by the western touch). An Overreaction? Maybe…The extremists have sworn to beat couples who publicly display affection. Essentially, the purists are simply trying to hold on to what little culture they have left. I don’t agree with throwing rocks at couples holding hands (maybe just the rude ones who lizard kiss), but i definitely believe that the meaning behind Valentine’s Day left a long time ago when it was put into the hands of card companies trying to make a quick buck.
